You don't have to be a performer to join YMT: UK. There are plenty of other opportunities available, whatever your skills or interests.  We are always looking for people to assist with the administration of our projects in our London Headquarters and in our UK regional offices. It doesn't matter where you live, or how much time you have to give, there's a role for you!

If you want to help a busy not-for-profit arts organisation, read on to find out about the opportunities available.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Volunteering with YMT: UK could involve working with one or more of these departments:

  • Production Administration (including technical aspects of all touring productions, schedules, staff appointments & contracting, liaison with venues, etc.)
  • Development (including supporting fundraising strategy, delivering sponsors benefits, co-ordinating events & invites, etc)
  • Arts Development (including project management of cast & orchestral auditions, & backstage interviews, capacity building for young people, evaluation, etc.)
  • Marketing (including planning & implementing marketing campaigns and print, including posters and leaflets, press strategies, etc.)
  • Pastoral (including sending schedules to company members, venue bookings, etc)
  • Office Administration (including reception, office diary, general enquiries, and project management of The Studio workshops, etc).

Anyone interested in these areas will work closely with existing members of the core operations team, in a support role.  We provide ongoing training and support as necessary.  The type of work is dependent on the projects being planned and the productions taking place at the time.

An interest in the personal and creative development of young people is also desirable.  Because of the nature of our work, applicants must be over 18 (Work Experience placements are sometimes available for people under 18).  Due to the nature of the company, and our work with young people, you will be asked to complete a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) disclosure form.

The working hours, and the timescale for these projects are open to negotiation.  They will generally fall within our typical office opening hours, around 10.30am - 6.00pm.  Because our events take place all over the country, some travelling may be required.

Although we will try to get volunteers to see our productions or workshops, schedules and travel permitting, the volunteer positions we offer are office based, and relate to arts administration activities.

APPLYING FOR VOLUNTARY WORK

Anyone interested should complete the application form below and send it (with a CV, if you have one) to paulgriffiths@ymtuk.org or by post to Paul Griffiths, YMT: UK, 40 Parkgate Road, Battersea, SW11 4JH.

We will contact you on receipt of your application form, and if there are positions available, arrange an interview with you in the office to discuss your application.
