Tim Sutton

Tim Sutton is a composer, arranger and musical director both in the UK and abroad. As well as his work as an MD and composer for YMT:UK, he is the Musical Director of Music Theatre 4 Youth and the Children’s Classical Chorus, and Guest Conductor of Voce Chamber Choir. Tim’s choral work is published by Novello Ltd.

Recent engagements include music for Women Beware Women (RSC), As You Desire Me (Playhouse), for which he was also vocal coach to Kristin Scott Thomas, Knight of the Burning Pestle (Barbican), and As You Like It (Wyndham’s), starring Sienna Miller and Helen McCrory.

Tim has written music for The Skin of Our Teeth (Young Vic), Cinderella (Northampton Royal Theatre), Such Sweet Thunder (Newcastle Theatre Royal,), A Fool and his Money... (Nottingham Playhouse, Birmingham Repertory), The Gift (Birmingham Door, Kilburn Tricycle), Bryony Lavery’s A Wedding Story (Birmingham Door, Soho Theatre), and the talking book Doctor Who and the Pirates (Big Finish Productions).

 

Musical direction includes The Mysteries of Harris Burdick (Arts Theatre London and Frederick Loewe Theatre New York), Marat/Sade (Royal National Theatre), Trouble in Tahiti (Battersea Arts Centre), Hymn to Love (Mercury Colchester, Drill Hall, Traverse Edinburgh and BBC Radio 3), Killing Rasputin (Bridewell Theatre), China Song (Plymouth Drum and touring), Marie (Basingstoke, Keswick and touring), The Mikado (Newcastle-under-Lyme, Orange Tree Richmond), The Mother (Keswick and touring), The Wind in the Willows (Birmingham Rep), The Late Sleepers and Such Sweet Thunder (Newcastle Theatre Royal).

Work as Chorus Master includes The Little Prince (BBC2) and Raymond Gubbay’s upcoming production of Showboat at the Royal Albert Hall.
