Stephen trained as an actor twenty years ago at LAMDA. He was an actor for ten years: his work included Melvyn Bragg' s The Hired Man, Aurtoro Ui with Gryff Rhys Jones, The Wars Of The Roses, Comedy Of Errors, Merchant Of Venice, Romeo And Juliet, Volpone world tours with the English Shakespeare Company, three shows at the Almeida and various repertory.
Stephen has spent the last ten years directing and writing. Directing work includes On The Town, City Of Angels, Hair, A Million Hearts For Mosley, Cabaret, The Fix, Maggie May, Titus Andronicus, Hamlet, Richard II, Duchess Of Malfi, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Dead Funny, The Treatment, Road, The Blue Room, Hiawatha, Marge, Pericles, King Lear. Writing includes What Comes After P? , Take Me To The River (BBC Radio 4), adaptations of The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner (Writers Guild Award), David Copperfield and A Clockwork Orange. Original plays Groping For Trout In A Peculiar River and 2000 Aluminium Saucepans. Stephen also teaches acting and improvisation at LAMDA and Central.
