The Imagineers is open to any young person aged 11 or over in Skye, Raasay and Lochalsh. It will be an intensive week, working daily from 9.30 am to 7.00 pm. It starts this Monday 17th October and there will be a final performance on Saturday 22nd October.

If you want to take part you can sign up on Monday morning by coming to Portree Primary School at 10.00 am and looking for the signs for YMT: UK. Rehearsals will take place throughout the week in the Primary School but the final performance will be at the Skye Gathering Hall.

The project is open to instrumentalists as well as actors, singers and dancers.

About the Show:

The Imagineers are all around us from when we are very young. Normally unseen, they facilitate our flights of fancy, our daydreams and our best ideas when we are asleep. They look after us when we’re scared and help to take us to less dangerous places in our sub-conscious in times of stress or unhappiness.

We may tend to use the Imagineers less and less as we get older, but that doesn’t mean they’re not there, just that we think we don’t have as much need for them.  Of course, because we are totally unaware of the Imagineers, we take them for granted. We presume that we have the ability to escape our boring lives from time to time……until one day……they’re not there any more. Then it becomes clear just how much we need them…….Ewan is unhappy. OK, he’s always understood that when humans grow up, they get so 
absorbed in their ‘oh-so-important’ lives that they forget to use their imagination. They think they don’t need people like him anymore. But Ewan can’t understand why Una and all her friends at school seem to have stopped imagining - they’ve stopped dreaming. They’re too busy on their playstations or texting to need the Imagiuneers.

Ewan decides to do something about it. He gathers all the Imnagineers together to make a decision. Are they going to let this happen? The answer is no. And that’s the day the Imagineers decide to go on strike……….

Sitekit and YMT: UK successfully applied to Arts and Business for a grant to run a six day workshop in Portree during the October half term.
