Over the last twenty years Lawrence has worked as an actor, director and movement director on everything from devised collaborations to interpreting the Classics ancient and modern.

He has an Honours degree in Drama and Education as well as a Certificate of Educational [Speech & Drama] from Nottingham. He was nominated for an Olivier Award as Choreographer of the Year for his work at the Royal National Theatre and received a Best Actor Award from North West Arts sponsored by the Liverpool Echo and Daily Post. He has worked with the poet Tony Harrison on all his site-specific theatre pieces since 1988, touring to Greece, Austria, and Bradford. His theatre work includes small, middle and large scale touring nationally and internationally, young People’s Theatre, Theatre In Education, Musical Theatre, many of the regional Repertory Theatres throughout the UK as well as the Royal National Theatre and RNT studio. He is a freelance teacher of acting and physical articulacy. He was made an Associate Artist of Theatre Centre in 1994 under the directorship of Rosamunde Hutt and his play Lives Worth Living, co-written with Jane Nash, is published by Heinemann.
