Jan is a regular keyboard player in West End Shows, currently working with “Billy Elliot”, "Wicked” and “Spamalot”, and previously with “Mary Poppins”, “My One And Only”, and “The Royal Hunt Of The Sun” (National Theatre, dir. Trevor Nunn). She was Musical Director for "Yikes!" (Unicorn Theatre), and Assistant Musical Director for “Coram Boy” (National Theatre) and in Sweden for  “Mozart!” (Värmlandsoperan,)  and “Hello Again” (Gothenburg University).

She has worked as repetiteur for Gothenburg Opera (“Les Misérables”) and Värmlandsoperan (“Tosca”) and at Chichester Festival Theatre (“Cabaret”) as well as for a number of smaller UK companies (Opera South, Opera Omnibus, Opera UK, Opera By Definition, Carl Rosa, Garden Opera, Opera Restor’d, Opera A La Carte, Opera Da Camera, Opex 2000).

Education and community work includes projects for the Royal Opera, English National Opera Baylis Programme, and the London Symphony Orchestra as well as community productions of  “West Side Story” and “Singin' in the Rain” (as Assistant Musical Director) and “Carousel”, “Guys and Dolls”, “Jack the Ripper” and “The Slipper and the Rose” (as piano MD).

Jan studied music at Reading University, and accompaniment at the Royal Northern College of Music with John Wilson and David Lloyd, and at the Royal Academy or Music with Geoffrey Pratley and Aaron Shorr, winning a number of prizes and awards. As well as her theatre commitments, she performs regularly in vocal, instrumental and chamber music recitals and as a soloist with orchestra, with engagements in the UK, Italy and Japan.  She has broadcast for BBC Radio 4 (on "Loose Ends" with Janie Dee) and for Swedish SVT4 (with Christer Nerfont).

She has held positions as Special Project Administrator with Youth & Music North East, and Choir Manager for the National Theatre’s production of “Coram Boy”, and was recently appointed as Instrumental  Co-ordinator for YMT: UK.  Also for YMT: UK Jan was Musical Director for Studios and Musical Director for the 2008 Audition Panel.  This season she is Musical Director for the YMT: UK production of “Mort”.
