During the second week of the Easter holiday YMT: UK was delighted to take part in Centre Stage part of the council’s programme of holiday activities. Associate Director, Kath Burlinson, Music Director, Jodie Oliver and Movement Director, Stephen Gaughan spent four days working with 24 young people from Edinburgh on the theme of Respect, and what it means to them. 

The project was conceived as a ‘mini’ non-residential Studio course, where the young people worked intensively for four days with Kath and the team producing a performance featuring the worked they had devised.  The non-residential nature of the project meant that significant responsibility lay with the young people and they rose to the challenge creating a show with something for everyone from rap to comedy including the songs they had written, the dances they had choreographed and the acting they had perfected.
