YMT: UK presented a short excerpt from Red Hunter at a conference on Wednesday 14th December organised by the UK Youth Parliament entitled 'Circles of Influence'. The conference was attended by members of the Youth Parliament, representatives of children's charities, government ministers, MP's, business leaders and representatives of the British Council, Metropolitan Police and Transport 2000. At lunchtime, the company took part in a photcall with with Tessa Jowell, the Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport: 'I was delighted to take part in a vibrant and constructive debate at the UK Youth Parliament, which is working with Youth Music Theatre UK – an exciting organisation with a proven record of engaging young people in culture.' Our slot was part of the afternoon session which included a keynote speech by the Minister of State for Children and Families, Beverley Hughes. The presentation started with Suspicion, led into a short dialogue and finished with Reds Under the Bed. The company was drawn from the summer 2005 Red Hunter cast and young people from a number of other projects who learned the songs during a short rehearsal prior to the event.
