11 - 16 August

In the second half of the 18th century, one of the most bizarre & sinister characters ever to darken the pages of Irish history appeared as the central figure in one of the most melodramatic scenarios of tragic survival. We are going to explore the legend, in words, music & dance, of Lady Betty, the notorious Roscommon Hangwoman, a murderess who escaped execution herself by offering to hang fellow prisoners in return for her own life being spared.
