Welcome to YMT’s National Auditions!

Youth Music Theatre UK is the country’s most vibrant and active music theatre company for young people. We’re a truly national company, auditioning and staging new shows in all corners of the UK.

Each year, we audition around the nation looking for over 200 talented young people aged between 11-21 to perform in our productions. We’re also looking for instrumentalists and backstage teams.

If you have a passion for performance and are looking for a unique way to spend your Summer, then YMT is for you. You’ll be working with loads of like-minded people, as well as teams of professional directors, choreographers and composers from all over the world to stage impressive shows at some of the country’s most respected venues and festivals.

In 2009, our productions include A Winter’s Tale by Howard Goodall and Nick Stimson, Loserville: The Musical by James Bourne (from the bands Busted and Son of Dork) and Elliot Davis, and four other extraordinary shows.

Our courses are residential, which means you’ll be staying with your cast for two to three weeks in one of many great cities, rehearsing, performing and having a lot of fun.

Our auditions team will be on the road throughout January and February, and are sure to be visiting a town near you. Our workshops aren’t scary, they’re designed to help you have an enjoyable and valuable experience. Our auditions will be held in Bracknell, Plymouth, Manchester, Leeds, Cambridge, London, Cardiff, Bristol, Newry, Londonderry/Derry, Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness, Newcastle, Southampton, Leicester and Birmingham.
