James’s lighting design for Marie Jones’s Stones in His Pockets has been seen in the West End and Broadway, as well as on UK, US and World Tours.

Other lighting designs include: Alone It Stands, West End, UK Tour and Irish Tours; A Night In November, Australian Tour; As The Beast Sleeps, Tricycle Theatre, London; Man of Mode, Lyric Theatre, Belfast; Piranha, Island Arts Centre, Lisburn; Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Marketplace Theatre, Armagh; A Christmas Carol, Riverside Theatre, Coleraine; Sleep, Odyssey Pavilion, Belfast; Mikado and My Fair Lady, Grand Opera House, Belfast; The Chairs and Convictions, Tinderbox Theatre Company, and The Our Town Project in the Millennium Dome.

As Production Manager he has worked with Belfast Festival at Queens, Castleward Opera, Big Telly Theatre Company, The KIC Project, Cahoots NI, the Ulster Association of Youth Drama, and the Belfast Community Circus School.

He lives in Belfast with a cat called Switch and a brace of unpublished novels.
