Claire Russ trained at the Laban Centre, London. Choreography for Musical Theatre includes: Tropic Island Hum (dir, Sir Paul McCartney), The Mikado (dir Andrew Farrell, Bolton Octogan Theatre), Cinderella (dir. Simon Godwin, Northampton Theatre Royal), Red Hunter (1) (dir Vernon Mound YMT (UK).
Choreography for Theatre includes: Voyage in the Dark (Young Vic), Sweet Dreams (for Sphinx Theatre); Cherished Disappointments in Love (Soho Theatre); As You Like It (dir. Sue Parrish, Bridewell Theatre), The Provoked Wife (dir. Paul Jepson, Southwark Playhouse); Pride and Prejudice (Good Company); Mary Stuart (dir Usma Hameed, Derby Playhouse); Gasping –Ben Elton (dir Paul Jepson, Basingstoke Haymarket). Film credits include: award winning Candy (dir. Tony Fabian); and BAFTA winning Red Peppers (dir. Dominique Santana, assisting Stuart Hopps). Claire also directs her own company, the Claire Russ Ensemble. Works include Dangerous When Wet (1994); Sweet Boys (1996); Gourmet (1998); and [B&B]4 (1999/2000); VeilSAFE (Year of the Artist Award, 2000); and CODE ( Richmond Festival 2001); Rock (2003) for Stirling Prize winning Alsop Architects and Queen Mary's University, created to lay a foundation stone on a new architectural site in Whitechapel, London. Claire has also recently been appointed Assistant Artistic Director of CandoCo Dance Company.
